If you do not already use primer than you probably think it is unnecessary and if you do use primers then you would understand why I love wearing it so much.
Wearing primer under your foundations has many benefits not only for your makeup but also for your skin. Primers creates a protective barrier over the skin and seal any products that you may use under it such as your moisturizer or any other treatment in your skincare regime. Primers blur the appearance of imperfections that may be present on the surface of the skin. They also assist your makeup to glide on to your skin and keep your makeup looking fresh and longer lasting.
Here are my top 4 primers that I have tried, tested and loved:
Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer
If you suffer from dry skin and need to lock some moisture into your skin without having to overload on the moisturizer then go for the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer. It's been a savior for me during those times where dry skin was untameable for me. The primer hydrates and leaves your skin feeling refreshed. It's an oil free and non sticky formula, it does not clog up your pores and keeps your makeup put all day long.
bareMinerals Prime Time (Original)
The bareMinerals Prime Time (Original) primer plays a part in my everyday makeup. As I have mentioned before in a previous post, I use to have problematic skin a few years ago and surprisingly this primer was the only primer that I could use on my skin without having flare ups.
There's many things that I just love about this primer...
Firstly it does not clog up your pores but leaves a silky finish allowing your concealer and foundation to slip on your face seamlessly. It tames dry skin and is able to smooth away the largest of pores and my most favorite thing about this primer is that wearing it under your makeup, makes your makeup look fresher for longer!
I would highly recommended this primer to everyone!
Benefit the POREfessional
I first came face to face with the Benefit POREfessional three years ago. During those times my facial skin was suffering from acne and other skin conditions that this really did nothing for me. If your a fan of the magazine, Elle, you would know they gave samples of the Benefit POREfessional in their last issue, hence why it's back in my makeup bag!
This time when I tested the product on my face, I was pleasantly surprised. It slips on to your face like butter and quickly minimizes pores leaving you with a flawless complexion. The POREfessional is a lightweight translucent creamy textured primer, it glides on to your face seamlessly and leaves you with a smooth, silky and pore less face.
My favorite thing about this product is that I can see the pores off my nose disappear as I apply it. It's a tad expensive but totally worth it (however I would not recommend this product to people who suffer from dry skin).
Illamasqua Hydra Veil Gel
Illamasqua’s first steps towards skin care and their definitely going in the right direction. This primer is one of the best primers on the market. The gel like primer instantly hydrates the skin, leaving the skin feeling moisturized and cool. The hydra veil caters to providing the perfect smooth base for perfect makeup application. The primer is able to tame the driest of all skins, however it is a tad expensive but a little does go a long way.

Great post :) I also find that Benefit Porefessional is doing very little for me at the moment. Have you tried Mac Prep + Prime? I am using this at the moment and really love it! Really want to try Illamasqua but as you say, it is quite expensive!
