I love the dead
straight and sleek look. However straightening my hair is not something I usually
like to do. With a regular heat iron it takes me ages to straighten out my hair
and it never seems to last on my long dark and long hair. Well that was my
story until I picked up on the L’oreal Steampod.
I’ve always been a
sucker for long sleek and shiny hair. The type of hair that you see on the
adverts. Something that has taken me years and years to achieve and is still an
on-going mission.
I first came across the
L’oreal Steampod on Vanity Femme’s YouTube channel where she demonstrated how
she took her frizzy crazy hair to looking super sleek. I was sold to the L’oreal
Steampod after watching her video. Admittedly it’s not the most budget friendly
of all straighteners but from experience it is definitely worth it.
Packaging and so on…
The steampod comes
neatly packaged in a medium sized box. The steampod comes in two parts, the
steampod for the water and the actually straightener which runs through your
hair.
The steampod features:
The steampod features:
- 5 heat settings (210 being the highest)
- A detangling comb attached to the straightener
- Ceramic Plates
- Water filtrating system to give pure steam
- A high gloss finish
- Should be used in conjunction with blow dry creams
As you can see from the
images it’s quite bulky which means it does not travel very well. It comes with
a UK plug and is priced at around £125.00.
First Impressions
I've never seen my hair
in a dead straight state. After using this straightener I was left admiring my
hair in the mirror for some time. My hair is thick so I daringly chose the
highest heat setting and in about 15 minutes of running the straightener
through my hair I was left with super sleek and healthy looking hair.
The steampod
reconstructs the hair temporarily and it makes it feel heavier and look
smoother. Even after having my hair up or sleeping on it my hair is still kept
in a straight form.
The Low Down
Steam straighteners
will damage your hair faster than your regular GHD. When I first initially
purchased this for some reason I had thought that using a steam straighten
would be a lot healthier for my hair however that is so far from the truth. The
steam will suck the moisture out of your hair so bad. I have naturally dry hair
so this is one of the first things I noticed. Sure my hair looks healthy and sleek
however when I felt my hair it felt coarse dry and even more worse I have so
many split ends now.
…and yet that still
does not stop me from reaching out for the steampod however this is one tool
you should never use without prepping your hair with heat protection. I also
recommend that you carry out loads of hair treatments such as hair oil and hair
masques on a daily basis.

I hate my super fine hair, but it is pretty easy to straighten, and I can use a small regular flatiron for great results. make sure you use a heat protectant!
