For most special occasions, I'm always routing to dress myself up in a glamorous long evening gown but the ones that are really pretty and have loads of beaded work done to them are obviously the ones that are the most expensive. For some time now, I've had my eyes on these websites which were selling these really gorgeous dresses for a cheap price, however I have always been a little bit indecisive about purchasing from these websites because of many reasons. Firstly, all these websites that I looked at were using the same pictures of the same dresses...why are they all selling the same product using the same picture?! and secondly most of the websites were shipping the items from China so beware even if the web URL ends in .co.uk, it does not necessarily mean that the dresses are from the UK.

A few weeks ago I was searching for a new dress for a friends wedding. After searching through what the high street stores had to offer, I got fed up and decided that I was finally going to make my very first purchase from one of these websites.
I googled for evening gowns in the UK and found www.diydress.co.uk. The dresses are stunning and you probably have seen other websites selling the exact same thing using the exact same pictures! I looked through some of the reviews on the website and looked at some of the pictures of dresses posted by previous customers...it seemed "legit", so I went ahead and placed an order for one of their stunning long evening gowns.
Straight after placing the order, I regretted it as I googled for "diy dresses reviews" and found a lot of negative reviews which were left by customers on discussion forums. Customers who had purchased from there previously had left the company terrible reviews based on their service and the product. One customer wrote that the dress did not even look as it did on the picture and that their customer service was so terrible and that they would not refund the money back.
After reading all these reviews, I became worried that had thrown away a £100 on a evening gown that I would never wear...I had nightmares about this where I would open the package and the dress would be neon orange. I came across one review that mentioned that diydress.co.uk wasn't actually based in the UK but rather in China. I had became even more worried after reading that...the thought of having to had paid £100 for a dress which was was probably going to turn up in poor quality was not my idea of the perfect evening gown. I even looked through my social channels for any pictures posted by customers who had purchased from them previously and how their dresses came out. I found a couple of posts on Instagram and the dresses seemed to be similar to what was displayed on the website...I felt slightly at ease after seeing those posts and hoped for the best.
Finally, the day arrived when my dress arrived. It took about 3 weeks for my dress to arrive which is a pretty standard waiting time for items being shipped into the UK from China. I ripped opened the packaging with my eyes practically closed, softly chanting "please, please" as in "please do not let it be horrible". I picked up the dress from the packaging, it felt really heavy due to the work on the dress. As I unwrapped the dressed and unfolded to see what the damage was, I was pleasantly surprised.
The dress was perfect and everything that it had claimed to be from picture and the beaded work on the dress was so delicate and precise. The material that the dress was made out of did not feel or look cheap. The colour was right on and so was the design. If I was to buy this dress from any of the stores in the UK, I would have most definitely been charged an excessive amount of extra money, so for £100 for such a stunning dress in three weeks was totally worth it.
I apologize for the poor quality of pictures which I took on my iPhone. These pictures do not do justice to how actually stunning this dress is in reality. The only downside which can be easily fixed is the length of the dress is really long and this dress isn't custom made, it's made to measure as a standard UK size 10 so if you decided to purchase any dresses from diydress.co.uk then definitely make sure you get your required length down on your order so you don't have to take the dress to a tailor later on.

Wow! This looks soooo pretty! Gotta love a bargain!
